Friends of Panda Mountain is a Hong Kong NGO that supports the ongoing restoration and sustainable development of Wolong. Friends' founder serves as a senior advisor to the Wolong Administration, and brings world-class capacity building expertise to the reserve. Working in strategic partnership with the reserve, Friends conserves panda habitat by restoring the balance between people and nature. Friends received charity status from the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department in May 2012.
Wolong Training and Learning Center
The Wolong Conservation Training and Learning Center will coordinate diverse and integrated sustainability programs that advance Giant Panda conservation and “harmonious development” within the Wolong Nature Reserve. Ecological, economic, and cultural projects will be interconnected to advance habitat conservation, ecological restoration of Wolong’s forests and sensitive mountain ecosystems, wildlife conservation, stewardship education, applied conservation research, adaptive management training for protected area personnel, as well as ecological and cultural based tourism. The Center will utilize the buildings and grounds of Wolong’s former captive Giant Panda breeding center at Hetaoping, which is located in a breath-taking gorge surrounded by pristine vegetation and panda habitat.
